Thoughts on what I’m watching that is noteworthy *SPOILERS POSSIBLE*
So my last update here was the week of February 13, which was quite some time ago. I apologize for not being able to update this often, but my television life has turned from sitting down watching shows as they air to trying to find time late at night to catch up from a couple weeks behind.
I narrowed down my shows into different priority buckets; some I would make time for the same night it aired (watching it later when it became available online) and others I would hold off until I had free time. Still others had to be cut just because I found myself not really caring to catch up on them.
The shows I kept at priority were How I Met Your Mother, Happy Endings, Revenge, 30 Rock and Parks and Recreation.
Middle tier became Suburgatory, Don’t Trust the B—— in Apartment 23, Parenthood, Cougar Town and Breaking In.
Bottom tier became just Modern Family.
I also, for some reason, picked up and marathoned Smash. It was pretty bad overall, but the original musical numbers were pretty fantastic, and I enjoyed watching the story evolve. I’m excited for next season, even though it’ll probably fall into my middle tier.
Speaking about cancellations and renewals, I’m rather happy that 100% of the shows I actively care about will be coming back next season. Scheduling is a different story, but I think everything will work out. The two biggest moves are obviously Revenge to Sundays and Happy Endings to Tuesdays. I think both are going to have decent lead-ins, and already have enough of a core audience to keep them running. Sure, Revenge will be up against Sunday Night Football and I’ll have to bail when the Giants are playing, but everything else is pretty weak.
I’m pretty bummed about next season being the last for 30 Rock, as I have loved almost everything about that show since the beginning, but I do feel that it is time to let it go. Just thinking about all the fantastic things Tina Fey will be able to do once her time frees up makes me happy. The only thing I want is an Emmy for Jane Krakowski, which is so long overdue. Jenna has really been one of the best things about this season, as her character has stayed consistently amazing.
I’m going to write more in here later as I wrap up the seasons of my favorite shows, and then I can accurately start making incredibly biased Emmy predictions ;)
